David Frank Dvorak Obituary Death – West Liberty resident David Frank Dvorak, 62, passed away on October 19, 2023. The unexpected loss of David has left the family grieving greatly. On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:30 A.M., there will be a celebration of life in the West Liberty Community Center, located at 1204 North Calhoun St. in West Liberty. Visitation will take place at the community center on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. North Prairie Cemetery in West Liberty will be the site of the funeral. A memorial fund has been established in instead of flowers.
The date of David’s birth is January 12, 1961. Raised in a rural area in Wilton, he attended Wilton High School and graduated in 1979. He graduated from Texas A&M’s Executive Program for Agricultural Producers and Iowa State University’s Ag Business and Farm Management Bachelor of Science program. After 34 years of marriage, David and Jody Cole got divorced. John and Casey were their two children raised together. Dave cherished his children and his one-year-old grandson Leo.
David loved his family farm and the region he grew up in. For the 40 years he farmed, he dedicated himself to becoming a good steward of the land. His pride, his joy, his life’s work was farming. As a member of his peer group for Farm Journal, AAPEX (the Association of Agriculture Production Executives), and other organizations, Dave treasured long-standing friendships and professional partnerships. As President of the Iowa Farm Business Association, David strengthened his ties to his hometown and the agricultural community by promoting farmer education through his backing of the local FFA and the Ag department at Muscatine Community College.
His most recent position was as a director on the board of WeLead. Outside of his neighborhood, David loved to explore the world and enjoyed doing so with his family. David was an ISU rugby player who played with the Iowa City Ducks and the Ruffians into his 40s. David’s parents, Frank and Rita Collier Dvorak, who were formerly of rural Wilton, are survived by his brother Doug (Lynne) Dvorak of Denver, CO; sister Susan Dvorak (John) McMahon of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his grandson, Leo Thomas Dvorak. His former wife, Jody of West Liberty, is also survived.
