'I’m just gonna spend a little more time': Billy Joel affirms commitment to New York, plans to split time with Florida stay

NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Iconic musician Billy Joel reassured that he has no plans to leave New York, making the declaration while entertaining the crowd at the UBS Arena on New Year's Eve.

Despite having listed his Long Island home for sale, the artist emphasized to the audience, "Just because I'm selling that house, doesn't mean I'm leaving Long Island."

Joel will return home after a brief break

According to USA Today, he playfully remarked that the steep price tag would probably deter any potential buyers. He assured the audience that after a brief hiatus, he would be returning to his home.

“I’m just gonna spend a little more time in Florida like old Jewish guys from Long Island do,” he said.

Joel also owns another property on Long Island and will keep it.

His five-bedroom, six-bathroom Long Island mansion is listed with Bonnie Williamson of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. It features a three-bedroom beach house, an in-ground pool, a helicopter pad, and a floating dock and boat ramp.

How many children does Billy have?

Recently, Joel treated his two youngest daughters, Della Rose and Remy Anne, aged 6, to attend Taylor Swift's concert as part of the 'Eras Tour' in Tampa, Florida.

The singer's oldest daughter is Alexa Ray Joel, whom he shares with Christie Brinkley. In an interview with People, she reflected on her upbringing, stating, "My parents tried to shield me from how famous they were when I was growing up."

"When everybody said 'Hello, Billy! Hello, Christie!' — I just thought they were popular."

Billy has cut down on his shows in recent years. "Billy's voice has been battered by years of touring and his monthly residency at Madison Square Garden," an insider told Radar Online.

"He's also been an admitted drinker over the years. The rock 'n' roll lifestyle seems to have caught up with him. People are warning Billy he'd better take it easy or face the consequences," the source said.
